 We are blessed to have an amazing staff at First Baptist Swansboro who commit their time and energy to build a strong and responsive team. Get to know each of the staff members below.
Most of our Staff is located in the Family Life Center (FLC)


Dr. Larry Harper became the Pastor of First Baptist Church Swansboro in July of 2013, and preached his first sermon as our Pastor on July 14, 2013. He is a native of Charlotte, NC and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Clemson University, a Masters of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, and an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree from Campbell University.

Rachel Morton is our Minister of Youth and Education. She has been with us since 2001 and has done a remarkable job developing and implementing a myriad of successful programs for the youth of our church.

Lisa Edmonds is our Minister of Music. Since 2001, she has successfully developed one of the finest music ministries in this area. We are blessed to have Lisa.

Janet Payne is our Office Administrator. Janet supervises the daily work of the church office and executes the vital position Church Financial Secretary.

Dolores Licko is our Part-time Administrative Assistant. She assists both the Office Administrator and Administrative Assistant in all areas of the daily office operations.

Janae Whitfield is our Director of Children’s programs. She directs the planning, organization, and implementation of all programs for the children of our church.

Will Weltman is our Pianist. He provides accompaniment for all of our church functions. Will is not only an accomplished musician, but serves as the band Director for Swansboro High School 

Marlene Coyle is our Organist. Her musical gifts cover an array of skills including organist, pianist, and vocalist.

Tammy Williams is one of our two Nursery workers. Her dedication to God and to our children is evident in all of her efforts

Cheryl Van Buren joined the First Baptist Church Staff on March 6th.  She has a Bachelors Degree in Family Life Education from Spring Arbor University, Spring Arbor, Michigan and has spent the majority of her career working with children.  She is currently a full time educational Aide at Tarawa Terrace Elementary School on Camp LeJeune. 

Michelle Penrod is our Caretaker. She keeps our facilities clean and ready to use at all times... a daunting assignment.  Michelle serves with a cheerful and loving heart.

Don Clark is our part-time Caretaker. His responsibilities include taking care of our sanctuary and the main church building.
